May 2026 Opportunity Zone Request (Background Note)
In May 2026, MO Lake Development asked the State of Missouri to nominate Census Tract 9504.01 as an Opportunity Zone. That request is an early application step, not a building permit.
The note below explains our May 2026 application to the state. Asking the state for a nomination is an early application step; it does not establish a final designation or authorize construction.
Our objective is to build a community. We moved forward with the purchase of the land with a clear understanding that a data center was not possible, and we are not requesting approval for one. Any mention of a data center in the May note came from an earlier concept. Road and utility agreements are explained on our Questions page.

On May 18, 2026, we sent a request to the State of Missouri asking to nominate Census Tract 9504.01 for the federal Opportunity Zone program.
What an Opportunity Zone request means
An Opportunity Zone is a federal program from 2017 that encourages long-term private investment in certain areas chosen by the state and approved by the U.S. Treasury.
Part of our land sits in Census Tract 9504.01. Sending a request to the state is only the first step, and approval is not guaranteed. It does not grant zoning, water, or building permits. All city and county rules stay the same.
